All grade 7, 8 and 9 band students have the opportunity to attend an overnight band camp at Camp Chestermere on October 11th, 12th, and 13th. Grade 7 band students will spend the 11th and 12th at the camp (returning to the school around 1 pm on the 12th), and grade 8 and 9 band students will leave around noon on the 12th, and return around 4 pm on the 13th.
Trip forms for this camp can be found on this very blog-how convenient!-on the menu on the left hand side of the Home page. Please return as soon as possible, as we need to book buses and-call us crazy-we want to make sure we have enough seats for everyone.
TWO IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING THE FORMS:
- The Camp Chestermere forms are NOT the same forms as the ones that were provided in the package mailed out this summer. The summer package forms only covered events in Calgary; a separate form is required for overnight trips.
- FORMS RETURNED AFTER OCTOBER 4TH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
Also, if you are a parent with CBE clearance and no fear, we would love to have you volunteer! We are in particular need of dads to come overnight for the grade 7’s. The trip is free for volunteers, if that helps (?).
The fee for the camp is $150, which covers three meals and a snack, accommodation, clinicians, team building activities, and busing. We recognize that this is not an inexpensive endeavour, and have started individual fundraising this year as an option to help you offset costs. See the Fundraising tab on the Home page menu, or contact elaine@gidluck.ca if you require further information.
Payment for the camp can be made on-line at https://webapps.cbe.ab.ca/myaccount. If you do not see the Camp Chestermere fee on your student’s profile, it should be there by tomorrow (September 28th) afternoon.
As with any event that takes place outside of Calgary, any student that is attending MUST have at least one parent attend the MANDATORY parent meeting, as per CBE requirements. This meeting will be held in the SWS Learning Commons, on October 3rd, at 6:30 pm.
If you cannot attend the meeting, please let Ms. Bolen know, so that she can make alternate arrangements to go over the required information with you.
Ms. Bolen will cover the planned activities at the camp, the camp facilities, specific requirements for medical and dietary accommodations, packing list, and emergency management. Sounds like fun, see you there!
