May 24th is the grade 5 Celebration of Learning, at 6:00 pm in the school gym. This is for 2nd term band students (those that started in late January) only. 2nd term band students will be putting on a concert for their parents during this event. Band students should wear black bottoms and a white top (no large logos please), or they can wear their favourite dressy outfit.
Also, grade 6 students must choose between General Music and Band. There will be an information session at 7 pm tomorrow night for all grade 5 parents in the Learning Commons, to explain the differences between the two options and help you and your student make the best decision for next year.
This will be your student’s opportunity to try out some different instruments and determine which one they would like to play for next year. Long and McQuade representatives will be on hand to provide information on renting an instrument from them.
Attached is a form which provides some basic information about each option. Page 4 of the document must be completed and returned Ms. Bolen by May 28th, indicating your student’s pick for either General Music or Band.
