It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for…the SWS Band early registration days have arrived! We’d say it’s like Christmas has come early, but it’s more like Christmas shopping: lots of people in a small, enclosed space, excited children running around, shelling out money for something you’re not sure your kid will even like…good times, good times.
The band room will be open from 9 am until noon, and from 5 pm until 8 pm today (August 29th), and from 5 pm until 8 pm tomorrow (August 30th). Please enter the band room through the doors on the south side of the school, near the community rink parking lot. The rest of the school is still undergoing preparation for the upcoming year, and we ask that you keep your visit confined to the band room and Main Office only.
Santa will not be on hand to hear your wish list, but we have something even better: parent volunteers will be available to take your forms and payments, and answer your questions. Ms. Bolen is in meetings this morning, but will be available tonight and tomorrow night.
Our apologies to the families of grade 5 students, as most did not receive their packages in the mail. This is due to a mental error on the part of the writer of this post, which shall henceforth be known as The Great Address Label Debacle. Let us never speak of it again. Packages for grade 5 students are available for pick up and completion in the band room.
If you have not already completed the first step of completing the on-line registration please do so, as this allows us to collect much of the required information electronically, which saves time and money for you and the program. Payment for band fees can be made by cheque or cash in the band room. Credit and debit payments will be accepted in the Main Office during business hours on Wednesday. Credit payments can also be made on-line through your CBE account.
Cheques should be made payable to Samuel W Shaw School. The payment amount for each grade is as follows:
Grade 5: $60
Grade 6: $62
Grade 7 Beginner: $80
Grade 7 Intermediate: $50
Grade 8: $55
Grade 9: $75

Final reminder: school instruments have been reserved for grade all grade 5 students and for those families that reserved one in May. All other students are responsible for renting their own instrument privately through either Long and McQuade or St. John’s Music. Information on private rentals is found on-you guessed it!-on our blog.
