Dear SWS Music Families,
Did you know we have our own parent run association? We’re called the Samuel W. Shaw Band Association, but technically we help out wherever we can with the entire SWS music program. Our purpose is to help lift some of the load from the shoulders of our talented music teacher so she can concentrate on what matters most – teaching our students!
You should have received home a Purdy’s Chocolates catalogue. There was an explanatory letter tucked inside. This is a SWSBA fundraiser to support the music program. It’s a great fundraiser if we all promote it, so thanks for your efforts in spreading the word and selling! The deadlines are written on the letter (November 20th for cheque orders, November 27th for online/cash).
Also coming right up is our SWS Winter Concert! A separate email will be sent shortly with many volunteer positions we need help with. Please read, consider your schedule, and sign up! One of our most pressing needs are items for a raffle gift basket. If you have any connections to access goods or services to donate to this, please let us know asap.
We are going to continue to use and promote the SWS music blog, so it will continue to be our primary source of music program information: https://swsmusicblog.com. Please bear with us as we continue to learn to use it and update it.
We are a new executive this year, and we are still getting our feet under us. As we learn our roles and how involved the music program is, our already great appreciation for past SWSBA president, Elaine Gidluck, has grown exponentially. She is a one-woman wonder, and though her youngest is now in grade 11, she continues to mentor us and run the grocery card program for us this year. We are beginning to realize the thousands of hours of quiet service she gave to SWS music students over the course of years. If you see her, please thank her.
