Grade 9 band will look a little different at SWS this year! We have many students who played in grade 7, then had a long break because of Covid, and are now returning to their instruments. Because of this, we have also opened up band to new students who are interested in joining. By grade 9 the students are often able to pick up the instruments more quickly, especially if they practice at home. Practicing is vital to a student’s success in band!
Although this may not be a typical year in terms of what we are able to do, we are committed to providing the students with as many enriching experiences as possible. Please stay tuned for more information on upcoming events and opportunities.
When performance opportunities become available, students will be expected to wear the SWS Band uniform shirt, as well as black pants/skirt, black socks/tights, and black shoes.
Instruments can be rented from the school or from a music store like Long & McQuade or St. John’s. For more information, please go to the “instrument rental” tab in the blog.
There may be fundraising opportunities to offset the costs of trips or program fees. For more information on fundraising, please go to the fundraising tab on the main page of the blog or click here.
More information will be given out at the band parent meeting on September 10. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns please contact Mrs. Smith at kmsmith@cbe.ab.ca.
